Born in Lima, Peru, Lorenzo Ferrero is a Grammy-nominated and Latin Grammy-winning saxophonist, composer, arranger and educator. After graduating Berklee College of Music Magna Cum Laude, Lorenzo moved to Vienna, Austria, to join The Snow Owl Quintet alongside Juan Garcia-Herreros. In 2016, Lorenzo relocated to Los Angeles, where he continues to work as performer, arranger and producer, working with acclaimed film composers including Christopher Young, Thomas Chase Jones and Federico Jusid. Lorenzo’s latest film credits include Detroit (2017) and Netflix’s Ola de Crimenes (2018). Lorenzo continues to expand his career as a performer, sharing the stage with world-renowned artists including Alex Acuña, Nestor Torres, Otmaro Ruiz, Oscar Stagnaro, Ramon Stagnaro. He has also toured with salsa legends Gilberto Santa Rosa and Luis Enrique, Mexican pop star Cristian Castro and Persian legend Googoosh. Alongside saxophonist Anibal Seminario, Lorenzo is the co-founder and director of The Afro Peruvian Jazz Orchestra; a 22-piece outfit blending Afro Peruvian rhythms and culture with traditional big band music. Their last album, Tradiciones, was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Jazz Album, and Lorenzo’s arrangement of ‘La Flor De La Canela’ won the award for Best Arrangement. Growing up in a country where music education is not as accessible, Lorenzo has always felt a responsibility to give back to his community and share his knowledge with the next generation. Alongside lecturing at major universities across Peru and the US, Lorenzo is the founder of online education site Tonealley Academy, which produces educational books, exercises and online courses for musicians around the world.
